Each deep tissue massage will be tailored to focus on exactly what is needed by you, the client. There is not necessarily a hard line between a deep tissue and therapeutic massage, and many sessions often incorporate both depending on your needs. Rather than being overly concerned with choosing the “right” massage, I will establish your goals for your session so that I can customise the right blend of techniques for you which may include all or some of the following - deep tissue and therapeutic massage, hot stones, myofascial release, lymphatic drainage and light stretching.
Deep tissue massage techniques allow the muscles to be stretched and lengthened to provide better alignment of the muscles and less restriction in the joints, and improving their movement and function.
Some believe that the more a deep tissue massage hurts, the more effective the work. This is not only an inaccurate and potentially harmful picture of this type of therapy, but such misguided practices can elicit a defensive reaction in a client’s body, and worsen pain cycles. Properly executed deep tissue massage work should not cause the client to grit their teeth in pain! By softening the superficial layers first and moving slowly into the deeper layers, deep tissue massage allows the client’s muscles and soft tissue to relax and be more responsive to the massage. Old adhesions and chronic dysfunctional patterns are altered, leading to a much more fluid, easy sense in the body.
For Muscle Tension and Pain Relief
Regular massage is essential for overall health. Massage improves performance, relieves chronic pain, aids recovery, prevents and eliminates injuries, reduces stress and even enhances metabolism and circulation.
Massage is actually a scientific process, it is healing and invigorating for tired, aching or injured muscles. It increases blood and lymph circulation, which supplies nutrients and oxygen and rids wastes and toxins.
Regular exercise and training causes the body to demand more oxygen and nutrients and increases waste elimination. Muscles struggle to get enough oxygen and nutrients, so waste collects. Massage aids circulation which feeds oxygen to muscles throughout the body resulting in more productive training, with longer, more effective workouts and so a better performance with fewer injuries. My deep tissue massage is also ideal for post workout pain and tightness in the muscles
